Over the last few days some fellow bloggers have brought to my attention some excellent examples of innovation through video.
The first video comes from the Twigg Towers blog. This video is described as showing amazing touchable holography from Shindo lab University of Tokyo. And from watching the video I would have to concur with this view. The ability to generate an image which appears 3D and then to interact with it is something we have always wanted to see. The practical applications for this are unbelievable. Think about interacting with your friends overseas and playing a real game of table tennis or interacting with that present your purchased for your niece in America.

The second video is more of a sales pitch video rather than showing practical technology in use, from Microsoft. This video comes from an excellent blog site called The Bank Channel which explores financial services customer experience and innovation. This video show unbelievable interactivity between the digital world and the physical world in multiple locations across the globe. Clearly the practical applications of all this content goes without saying, to be able to interact globally like this would change the landscape of travel as we know it. Collaboration would be facilitated by the very tools that seem to inhibit or restrict people from actively collaborating across the globe at the moment. How far is all this technology from reality, probably not that far.

This video is a prime example of how I see that the risk management professional is now no longer a bit player being asked to provide advice, but must actively participate and challenge the status quo and push these types of innovation. This innovation will challenge the conventional risk professional but will also take risk management to a new level of interactivity, information and data, and security protocols. However, this is what makes being in risk so exciting, we can be at the forefront of the usage of this technology and the decisions taken to make it all happen.
So, let’s all get on with it and make innovation the catalyst for embracing change and making the world change.
Cheers
