Google defends book settlement, calls for approval

Google defends book settlement, calls for approval.  (The Age website)

Quick posting on this but it seems google is making the play we all expected but never mentioned.

Not wanting to be left behind in an untapped potential income stream, google look like they are trying to position themselves as a serious contender in the ebook space.

This creates an interesting marketplace with Apple now moving into the space primarily held by Amazon.  Clearly Microsoft are also wanting to get their hands dirty on this as well.

This is all very exciting, but one of my greatest fears is what happened originally with music – different formats not compatible with different players.  This makes for a terrible customer experience and also places the organisation selling the product before the customer, which is never a smart place to be.

However, we all will be watching this space with baited breath and subdued excitement.

Cheers,
